Notes:
* With the exception of some of the
radios on the system, an
alpha-numeric display is provided
on the radio that displays the complete channel name as displayed in
Column 1.
Certain Radios,
such as the Motorola GTX series radios only display a 2 digit
identifier such as 1A 1B,
etc.
This is why there are 2 channel names for the same channel.
The 911 dispatcher will
advise
ops channel as "Your Operations Channel is FD09, 2A".
**
All announcement talk groups operate as follows: An
Announcement group gives the
dispatcher an easy way to transmit a priority message to all radios on
any channel
operating
within a certain group. As an example: If a radio is selected
to receive any channel
in the FD
group (except the MA channels) and a dispatcher transmits a message on
FD_ANNCE then
all radios that have an FD channel selected will here the announcement
regardless of which
FD channel that the radio is operating.
***
Operations channels are assigned at the discretion of the 911
Dispatcher and 911
Dispatch Policy.
****
A general chit-chat channel has been designated in each of the
services for the ease of
non-emergency traffic. Anything and everything could appear
here. This could
be thought
of as the CB Channel 19 of our trunked radio system.

*****
A channel has been established to provide backup communications
with Allegheny Power.
One radio is in Greensburg the other is at the Lake Lynn Power Plant
for APS. Other
users are on
this channel. This channel provides a comm link between
911/EMA and APS for Lake
Lynn.
It also provides a backup link for APS Greensburg to communicate with
the Lake Lynn Power
Plant. Flood waters that rise take out the microwave link
between Lake Lynn Power
Plant and
the rest of the APS system. Unfortunately when that happens,
their telephones at
Lake Lynn
Power Plant go out. Hence the need for this backup
communications link.
